The History Department received a generous gift to endow “The Jean Hébrard Graduate Student Fellowship for Summer Research.”  Starting next year, the fellowship will support the exploratory pre-dissertation research travel of a student in their first or second year in the PhD program.  The gift honors our colleague, Jean Hébrard, on the occasion of his retirement from teaching and celebrates the mentoring and teaching that he has given to our graduate students since coming to Johns Hopkins in 2017.  The occasion was also marked with a reception for faculty and graduate students.
