Call for Proposals: 2025 Annual B’More Historic Unconference

Baltimore’s annual unconference on people, places, and the past will be held on September 19, 2025, at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

DEADLINE: Submit by 5:00pm on September 18, 2025. Submit here.

BMore Historic is a participant-led “unconference” for people who care about public history and historical preservation in and around Baltimore. The attendees set the agenda for unconferences making every unconference diverse and extraordinary!

Students are FREE this year! (Tickets for non-students can be purchased here.)

Information for proposal submissions: Be sure to click here first to learn more about proposing a session in the spirit of an unconference. This shouldn’t be an academic presentation or lecture, but something more interactive: the intent is to facilitate a conversation. Share your experiences, challenges, present a new idea or thesis, be creative, and remember to be inclusive of your attendees. We suggest introducing a topic for around 5-10 minutes and then opening up the room for discussion with some thoughtful questions. We ask that everyone in the room, including those leading the discussion, use a microphone. In the spirit of the discussion-based model of the unconference, we discourage the use of powerpoint presentations and slides in session. If these would be essential to your session, please note in the description.

On the morning of the event (September 19th), all Bmore Historic participants will vote on these proposals (and probably come up with several new ones!), and then all together will work out how best to put those sessions into a schedule.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact Dr. Nicole King ([email protected]).
