Call for Researchers: Keywords for Black Louisiana

Keywords for Black Louisiana is a collective of researchers building a digital edition about Black resistance using 18th century manuscript documents in French and Spanish. This project seeks: 

  • Transcriber/Translators (2T) with French and/or Spanish language skills, willing to learn paleography on the job, to transcribe and/or translate these documents. Academic credit available if needed. 
  • Digital Assistants for Editorial Markup (DAEM) with interest in Black digital humanities and/or digital history to markup documents and clean datasets (no experience necessary)

This is a virtual/remote project. Course credit, honoraria, and/or stipend available, commensurate with experience.
