CfP: Virginia Tech’s 29th Annual Brian Bertoti Innovative Perspectives in History Conference

The Call for Papers is now open for the 2026 Brian Bertoti Innovative Perspectives in History Conference!

The History Graduate Student Association at Virginia Tech is pleased to invite the students of your department to this year’s 29th annual Brian Bertoti Innovative Perspectives in History Conference. The conference will be held in person on Friday, April 10th, and Saturday, April 11th, 2026, at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Please find attached this year’s Call for Papers. We would greatly appreciate it if you shared this with your faculty and students.

While this is primarily a graduate student focused conference, we also encourage exceptionally motivated undergraduate history students to submit their work for consideration to present at this conference as well as to publish in the Virginia Tech Undergraduate Historic Review (VTUHR). For more information regarding VTUHR, please see the CFP.

This year, we are proud to host two keynote speakers. This includes Dr. Akwasi Kwarteng Amoako-Gyampah (DLitt et Phil). He is an Associate Professor in the Department of History Education and Vice Dean for the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Education, Winneba, in the Central Region of Ghana. Our other keynote speaker is Dr. Robert Willingham, an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.

Conference applications are due by December 5th and should be submitted using this form.
