Georgetown Journal of History Call for Submissions

The Georgetown Journal of History is very excited to announce the relaunch of our Journal and a call for submissions for the Spring 2025 print publication and for the Journal’s online blog. The Journal seeks to publish engaging and creative historical scholarship produced by undergraduate students.

Print and Blog submissions do not strictly have to be written for a history class; in fact, submissions from all classes that advance a historical argument and demonstrate use of historical methodology are welcomed. Print and Blog submissions should conform to the Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition, and should include footnotes and a bibliography that distinguishes between primary and secondary sources.

Print Submissions must be between 3,000 and 6,000 words in length and must have received an “A” grade or higher in a course above the 100-level. Print submissions will be considered on a rolling basis until January 10th, 2025. Submissions will be reviewed and accepted on a first come, first served basis. You may access the Google form for Print submissions here

Blog submissions are designed to be more concise, less intensely researched pieces that should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words. Blog submissions will be received and published on a rolling basis. There is no strict deadline for blog submissions. You may access the Google form for Blog submissions here.

Detailed submission guidelines are available on our website and within the respective Google forms. We look forward to reading your work! Please do not hesitate to reach out to us via email ([email protected]) with any questions.
