Internships at the B&O Railroad Museum

The B&O Railroad Museum is the birthplace of American Railroading, we tell the story of the industrial, economic, and cultural impact the railroads had on the city, the nation, and the world. Additionally, our museum strives to be a central resource for the community to find support and thrive in a 21st century landscape: through workforce development programs, educational outreach and programs, historical preservation, and events.

We are eager to find like-minded individuals who share the same passion for history or civic involvement and want to develop their skills in a multifaceted organization that supports the community in addition to providing high quality content to help tell the story of American through the lens of railroading.

The B&O Railroad Museum has internship opportunities in several areas, including:

  • Archives & History
  • Events & Programming
  • Educational Programs and Tours
  • Marketing & Social Media
  • Retail & Merchandising
  • Development

The museum offers both paid and unpaid internships. Paid internships are often associated with grant-funded projects and are competitive. Job descriptions for paid internships will be posted separately. Unpaid internships are available through our Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters in multiple departments. We also work with students to ensure that they receive credit for their internships, if applicable.
