The Department of History’s graduate program is number 10 (tied for 10th) in the nation, according to the latest rankings of “Best Graduate Schools” published by U.S. News & World Report.

The program also received high rankings in multiple specialty areas:

• Cultural history: No. 4 (tie) *
• U.S. Colonial history: No. 5 (tie) *
• Women’s history: No. 6 (tie) *
• African history: No. 7 (tie) *
• European history: No. 7 (tie) *
• Modern U.S. history: No. 16 (tie) *
