Guerre d’Algérie : le sexe outragé

Guerre d’Algérie : le sexe outragé

Both discussion and art made about the war between France and Algeria (called the “Algerian” war by the French and “National Liberation” by the Algerians) are rife with ideas about sexual representation. Beyond the sexualization usually connected with conflict, the team gathered by Catherine Brun investigates the omnipresence of these ideas in representations of the Algerian war.

The works presented here by historians, anthropologists, sociologists and psychoanalysts, interspersed with literary works that evoke this violence, pull together to better understand the obsessive recurrence of these themes in the conflict.
